Our expert guides will introduce you to the history of cocoa while you explore some of the city’s most emblematic modernist streets and landmarks.
Barcelona, the great capital of Modernism, is home to the works of visionary architects such as Antoni Gaudí, Lluís Domènech i Montaner, and Puig i Cadafalch, whose creativity brought colour, imagination, and life to the city. As you stroll through these vibrant streets, you will learn how chocolate became intertwined with Barcelona’s artistic culture.
During the tour, you will visit several prestigious chocolate houses in the fashionable Eixample district of the city, each offering you a taste of their finest creations. At Cacao Sampaka, you will learn about the origins of cocoa, the harvesting process, and the “graduation” of chocolate bars, followed by a tasting of three varieties. At Casa Amatller, a Modernist treasure, you will discover the building’s connection to the world of chocolate and enjoy one of its traditional specialties, such as the bonbon or the classic “catania.” Finally, at Chocolat Factory, perched near the Jardinets de Gràcia, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of cocoa culture and sample some of their signature products.
Our tours typically last around 90 minutes and offer a perfect blend of culture, architecture, and gourmet tasting. Led by professionals passionate about chocolate and Barcelona’s artistic heritage, the experience is an ideal way to unwind and enjoy the city in a way you have never imagined.
